Children's Home / Community Services

Home/Community Services are designed for children and adolescents with moderate to severe emotional or behavioral problems who, due to a variety of circumstances, need services beyond the traditional outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. Some of the components of Home/Community Services are :

* Therapeutic Staff Support : One-on-one staff-child counseling in a child's home, school or any other community site. Services may include behavior reinforcement, time-out strategies, crisis intervention and/or other emotionally supporting activities prescribed by an individualized treatment plan.

* Mobile Therapy : Similar to Outpatient Therapy, but can be provided in the home, school or other community setting. This service is provided by a Master's level clinician.

* Behavioral Specialist : Oversees the treatment plan and prescribes changes when progress has or has not occurred. A licensed psychologist performs this service.

For a child to receive this service, a psychiatrist or psychologist must recommend it as a medically necessary service. In addition, consensus that the program is appropriate for the child must be reached in a meeting attended by the child, the parents/guardians, Interac staff and others with whom the child has a significant relationship (i.e. school personnel, a county case manager, representatives from other service agencies, etc.)

For more information or to make a referral, contact Interac's Centralized Intake Unit at (215) 487-1330.
